Container
A container is a process (or small group of processes) running on a host's kernel but isolated from it via namespaces and cgroups, and packaged with its own filesystem, libraries, and configuration. Unlike a virtual machine, it does not include a guest operating system — it shares the host kernel, which is why containers start in milliseconds and a VM takes minutes.
